Extendx Terms of Use
Introduction
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Extendx, including any browser, extension, local tool, assistant feature, security module, analysis component, or other service, software, or system made available under the Extendx name or brand.
Extendx is designed as a modular security and control ecosystem intended to improve safety, privacy, and user control across digital environments. The currently available public component is a Chromium-based browser extension. Other components may exist in development, experimental form, private testing, or future release stages.
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using any part of Extendx, the user agrees to be bound by these Terms of Use.
If the user does not agree to these Terms, they must not use Extendx.
Nature of Extendx
Extendx is not a single feature or a single extension. It is a broader security platform that may include multiple tools, modules, and services designed to work together or independently.
Extendx may include, now or in the future:
- browser protection systems
- network and request control systems
- local analysis tools
- file inspection tools
- security assistants
- API-based helper functions
- customization and user preference modules
- diagnostic or monitoring tools intended only for defensive use
- other safety-oriented software components
Some of these components may not yet be publicly released. Their inclusion in this document does not guarantee immediate availability.
Current available component
The current public version of Extendx includes a Chromium-based browser extension focused on browser safety, privacy, and control.
This extension may provide the following features, or more:
- blocking entire domains
- blocking domain extensions and TLDs, including suspicious extensions such as .xyz when configured by the user
- forcing HTTPS where possible and preventing insecure HTTP requests when appropriate
- detecting randomly generated or suspicious domains commonly associated with phishing, scams, or automated attack infrastructure
- blocking redirects, including JavaScript-based redirects, meta refresh redirects, and redirects across domains
- blocking or limiting popups
- controlling WebRTC and STUN behavior to reduce IP leakage risks
- blocking autoplay media
- blocking cross-domain form submissions
- removing, modifying, or limiting certain security-related browser behaviors such as CSP or inline script behavior when the relevant feature is enabled
- controlling downloads for safety purposes
- optional JavaScript injection only when required by a specific enabled security feature
- local API key management for user-configured services such as Gemini
- themes, language settings, and other personalization features
Each feature may be enabled, disabled, or configured by the user, depending on the version and available settings.
User control and configuration
Extendx is designed to be configurable.
No security feature should be assumed to run unless the user has enabled it or unless it is necessary for a core protective function of the active module.
Where a feature requires page inspection, request inspection, or script-level control, Extendx may use the minimum technical access reasonably required to perform that task.
The user is responsible for understanding which modules are active and what effects those modules may have on browsing behavior.
Local-first operation
Extendx is primarily local-first.
This means that, except for explicitly enabled external integrations, the system is intended to process data on the user's device rather than by sending browsing activity to external servers.
Extendx does not require user accounts for its core functionality.
Extendx does not function as spyware.
Extendx does not exist to secretly track users, profile users, or sell browsing history.
Information such as domains, redirect targets, page behavior, request metadata, or similar security-relevant data may be processed locally for the purpose of running defensive features. Such processing is part of the security function and is not intended to transmit user browsing history outside the device.
Data handling
Extendx may observe or process technical information required for protection and analysis, including but not limited to:
- domain names
- URL structures
- redirect chains
- network request patterns
- page loading behavior
- autoplay or popup behavior
- WebRTC or STUN behavior
- download-related signals
- form submission destinations
- feature-specific configuration data
This information is used only to operate the relevant security or control feature.
Extendx does not collect or transmit user data for advertising purposes.
Extendx does not sell personal data.
Extendx does not intentionally store browsing data unless a feature explicitly needs temporary local storage to function.
If a module uses local caching, logs, or temporary storage, that data is intended only for functionality, debugging, or user configuration, and should remain on the user's device unless the user explicitly opts into an external service or a future feature clearly requires otherwise.
External services and Gemini integration
Extendx may include optional integration with external AI or assistant services, including Gemini, where the user supplies or configures their own API key.
When this feature is used, Extendx is intended to send only the user's message or the minimal information needed to complete the request.
Extendx is not intended to send browsing history, hidden background data, or unrelated personal information to Gemini.
API keys are intended to be stored locally and handled securely on the user's device.
The user is responsible for:
- obtaining any API key lawfully
- keeping the API key confidential
- reviewing and accepting the external provider's terms and policies
- understanding any costs, quotas, restrictions, or service limitations imposed by the provider
Extendx is not responsible for the availability, reliability, pricing, policy changes, output quality, or limitations of any third-party service.
Future modules and ecosystem expansion
Extendx may later expand into a larger ecosystem of security tools beyond the browser extension.
Possible future categories may include:
- file and executable analysis tools
- system safety tools
- network inspection utilities
- malware detection or defensive scanning tools
- sandboxing or analysis modules
- developer-oriented diagnostic tools
- other security and privacy products
At the time of writing, some of these systems may not yet be publicly released. References in this document to future modules are intended to define the general structure of the Extendx ecosystem, not to claim that every future module is already available.
Acceptable use
Users may use Extendx for lawful and defensive purposes, including:
- improving browser safety
- blocking suspicious, malicious, or unwanted web behavior
- improving privacy
- reducing exposure to phishing and scam pages
- controlling browser execution behavior
- testing and configuring security settings for personal use
- using optional assistant features for legitimate informational purposes
Prohibited use
Users must not use Extendx for any of the following:
- illegal activity
- unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or data
- malware delivery, concealment, or distribution
- covert surveillance of other people
- credential theft
- phishing
- spam delivery
- bypassing security protections on third-party systems without authorization
- tampering with services or systems in a way that violates law or contract
- using Extendx in a way that would reasonably be understood as malicious or deceptive
Security model and limitations
Extendx is a defensive tool, not a guarantee.
No security tool can detect or block every threat.
Extendx may sometimes:
- miss a threat
- flag a safe site or file incorrectly
- affect page behavior in ways the user did not expect
- interact differently depending on browser version, site design, or system configuration
- be limited by browser platform restrictions or external website changes
The user acknowledges that defensive software reduces risk but does not eliminate it.
JavaScript injection and page control
Some Extendx features may require script-level intervention, including JavaScript injection or other page manipulation techniques.
Such actions are used only when needed for a user-enabled defensive feature, such as redirect control or page behavior protection.
Extendx should not perform script-level actions without a legitimate technical reason tied to an enabled module.
The purpose of such behavior is protection and control, not surveillance or unauthorized modification of user data.
Browser and network behavior controls
Extendx may interact with browser traffic and page behavior to enforce user-selected protections.
This may include blocking, filtering, altering, or preventing certain requests, redirects, media behaviors, or form submissions.
The user understands that these controls may affect how websites load or function.
Some websites may not work properly when protective controls are active.
Open-source components
All Extendx tools are open-source.
Where a component is subject to a separate open-source license, that license applies to that component.
Ownership and intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the Extendx name, branding, documentation, design, code, and related materials are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
This document does not grant the user ownership of Extendx.
The user receives only the rights necessary to use the software in accordance with these Terms and any applicable license terms.
Updates, changes, and versioning
Extendx may be updated, changed, expanded, renamed, reduced, or discontinued at any time.
Features may be added or removed.
Future modules may be released separately.
These Terms of Use may also be updated from time to time.
Continued use of Extendx after changes take effect means the user accepts the updated Terms.
Suspension and termination
Access to some or all Extendx features may be suspended, limited, or discontinued for technical, legal, security, or operational reasons.
The user may stop using Extendx at any time by uninstalling, disabling, or deleting the relevant components.
Disclaimer of warranties
Extendx is provided on an as is and as available basis.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Extendx makes no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation, error-free performance, or universal compatibility.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Extendx and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- loss of data
- loss of access
- loss of profits
- device or system issues
- service interruptions
- problems caused by third-party websites or services
- issues caused by user configuration or misuse
- damages resulting from reliance on output from external services
User responsibility
The user is responsible for:
- understanding which features are active
- reviewing settings before enabling powerful controls
- using the software lawfully
- protecting their own credentials and API keys
- keeping their system and browser reasonably secure
- understanding that defensive tools may produce false positives or false negatives
Privacy expectations
The user should expect Extendx to operate in a privacy-preserving manner by default, except where a feature intentionally requires communication with an external service that the user has enabled.
Where external communication exists, it should be limited to the minimum data required for the stated function.
